Slip Coaches
  • Class: GWR Slip Coaches
  • Builder: GWR Swindon Works
  • Built: circa 1930
  • Arrived on Sodor: 1974

The Slip Coaches are Duck's coaches. He calls them "Slippies". They are unique due to the fact that they can be uncoupled at stations without the engine stopping. Coaches 1 and 3 are male, Coach 2 is female.

Before coming to Sodor, they were Duck's coaches for many years on the Great Western Railway's "Sunshine Line". They were separated from Duck when he became station pilot at Paddington.

The Slip Coaches are very good friends with Duck. Like most coaches, they do not like being bumped by an engine. They can be very judgemental if they are not treated right, and need to be handled delicately. They enjoy working with other engines, so long as they know how to handle them properly.

They are painted in the GWR's Chocolate and Cream coach livery. When they first arrived on Sodor they were painted in BR's maroon and cream livery.

  • The female coach's name is Alice. The male coaches names are unknown.
  • Slip Coaches 1 and 3 are the only known male coaches on Sodor.
